    Pioneer DEH-1200MP fader control

    Hello all,
Just joined the forum and have somewhat of an emergency.

Just did a search for above mentioned model car stereo and got no results.

I just had the DEH1200MP stereo installed in my car along with 4 new speakers and an amp, no sub.

Upon returning home and messing with it, I have no fader effect, even though I have that setting on stereo, it shows directions on how to adjust it in the manual, and according to the pioneer.com website, it has a fader.

Went back to Best Buy, where I had it installed, and the guy told me there aren't enough outputs for that. Is that because of installing the amp, or is the guy BS'ing me?

Heck, even the 22 year old factory Delco am/fm cassette player had a fader on it!

Need answer ASAP before store closes, please.

    Thank you

Sounds like the guy at BB is full of crap...Every radio has a fader on it. I'm assuming by "fader" you mean your radio's output to the front and rear channels, right?

Maybe the guy at BB thought you were talking about a crossover. If you mean crossover, that usually isn't in a radio(except sub controls), but crossovers don't "fade" either.

Which set of preouts does he have the amp wired to on the HU and where are the 4 speakers mounted? Or maybe he wired the speakers to the HU incorrectly. Guess that's why I always do this stuff myself...

I'd ask him to explain in better detail why there's no F to R fader and how he wired it all up. Can you adjust L to R through the HU?

Tell me about the amp, is it a two or four channel?

That radio has only one pair of Pre-Outs so what you should be using is a two channel amp hooked to one pair of speakers and the deck should be on the other two speakers. That will get you, your fader back.

So he maybe telling you the truth, depending on how it was hooked up

Unknown how he actually wired it as I wasn't watching and haven't even looked at amp in trunk. 2 speakers are in dash and 2 in rear deck.

This is what I was thinking he did, after he told me it only had one set of pre-outs. Couldn't think of what they were called when I first posted. It's a 4 channel amp. That's good, isn't it?

What you're saying is wire one set of speakers into HU and the other set into amp, right?

    Thank you

    Edit:
I USED to do this stuff myself, back when I could see small things up close and stuff!!

I am guessing (since I intalled car audio equipment for many years) that he used the 2 preouts of your radio and fed them into your 4 channel amp...which WILL NOT ALLOW FOR FRONT TO REAR FADE... but will allow for left to right balance.....the only way to get front to rear fade in this scenario is to get a deck with 4 preamp outputs that allow for it or use a line out convertor on the rear channels of the radio and run a second set of rca cables to the amp... Or listen to it and be happy with it....

Oh and you could run the rear spks off the radio...that would allow fade IF the pre outs of your radio are on the front end...

    Thanks Viking,
I guess I'll see how much more it will cost to upgrade the deck.

    Yes,
I DO have the right to left balance.

I had to go away a little bit ago and that was my first chance to listen to it a little bit. It doesn't sound to bad actually. I usually like to have the fader adjusted 1 or 2 notches to the rear, but the 6x9's in back do get crankin' enough to hear them over the 4x6's in front.

    Thanks again :)

I prefer it that way, in a vehicle anyway.

    Update and solved:
Went back to Best Buy and had a different installer look at how the original installer installed my stuff. The way the first guy installed rear speakers was wrong and there would've been no way to get fader to work. I asked him if I upgraded stereo to the one I was going to get in the first place, if he was going to charge me an installation fee again and he said no.

    I upgraded to a Sony Xplod CDX-GT640UI, http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...10551&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665931917.

I then went and found manager and started ranting and raving about all the time I had wasted the previous day and the fact that neither the sales person or the original installer had told me about the fact that fader wouldn't work with first deck, and the fact first installer didn't install the equipment correctly also. He gave me that second deck for the price of the first one. Both were clearance items with the first one costing $75 and second one costing $144. Only had to pay for 2 sets of patch cords, after all was said and done!!

Thanks for the help people. Great forum and I will bookmark it for informational purposes and any future issues!

Bridged the connections and spliced all 4 speakers together, I believe is what the second installer said. I know he said bridged the connections and spliced at least the rear speakers together.
