So I have a audiobahn a2300htc and I wanted to do a voltage test and these are my results...alt is putting out 14.38, battery is 14.28 and dropped to 13.65 when bass was hitting and the amp was 13.62 and deep bass was 12.27.. And this was only at half the volume. So what you guys think about this? Also this is all stock electrical and only a 6 awg power and ground wire.
Sounds like you need to upgrade your electrical system; At least do the Big 3 and use larger gauge wire. Your alt. probably won't last long with this setup, especially since you were only at 1/2 volume.
For now until I get some real money, I'm going to do the big 3 and a new amp kit all 4awg. This is for now and in a month or 2 I'm going for all 0awg another battery and a ho alt.
With what you have indicated.....this is about the norm. You wont fry your alternator, As a matter of fact...you will allow your alternator too live longer by not upgrading the big 3.....ya really. LOL! the factory wire will help to limit the amount of current... But really....DO upgrade! It will only help.
I'm gonna do the upgrade this weekend the big 3 and amp kit all 4awg for no. The 6awg kit I have now sucks can't turn it up because it blows the fuse and it's only 60amps so I'm gonna upgrade all that Friday or sat!
lack of adequate current tends to typically melt the fuses. ya..you need more available current to the amps. If you install a second battery....do it close to the amps.....
I am going to install a second battery (read that article you wrote about that) and Also know the wire only needs to be about a foot long (battery to amp) or that's what I'm planning.
