Hi guys. Just bought an Eclipse PA5532. Hooked it up to my car and I got good feedback out of my subwoofers (two 12's).. However, the amp doesn't have how many watts it puts out on it and I cant get a solid number from any links when researched on google.. If anybody has any experience or knows about this amp, could you answer a couple of question for me....
How many watts is it capable of putting out?.. Do you think it is enough to power my subwoofers?.. what are the advantages or disadvantages of have a 5 channel amp?.. If I am just powering my subwoofers with it should I keep on 5 channel setting or switch to 3 channel?.. also there are some knobs on it that are labled gain, high pass and low pass, what are these for?.. should I turn them to 200Hz or 50Hz (for high and low pass)? Should I have the gain knob on .2V or 8V..... Sorry about all the questions in one post, but if anyone has the time and effort to answer I will greatly appreciate it..:)

set the switch to low pass for the subs. if you can set the low pass to 80hz to start then adjust it till the bass sounds just right to you. you don't want any mid bass coming from them.

as far as the gain is concerned... thats a tough one to explain with out confusing you too much. i'll try tho. the gain is a level matching knob that you set to the output voltage of your head unit.

if you know what the rca's put out as far as voltage goes then you can match the gain so you don't get any distortion from your subs. depending on where they are located in your car/truck it could be hard to hear any distortion. if the bass starts to sound "funny" or after you turn it up and it won't go any higher you reached its max output before distortion sets in.

the advantages of a 5ch is its an all in one unit. 4ch, sub amp and crossover all in one.

cons-- some people want more power from the sub channel.

Thanks, I guess this amp will have to do for now.. when I turn the bass and volume all the way up my woofers thump pretty good. I probably need a better cd player though. bass knob only goes up to 7..

if you want more bass i guess a new enclosure is in order, or more power.

or a new sub that you can wire to get the most out of this amp AND a new more efficient box.

Well I have 2 12" rockford fosgated p2's that are already boxed in. 4ohm-400watts RMS/800 peak.. Do you think this amp can get the max out of these speakers. What does RMS mean n e way

RMS is the amount of power a sub is rated to handle on a continuous basis. And no you're likely giving the subs only a quarter of rated power (100 watts to each sub with that amp).
