I have a 1999 Ford Explorer with a Sony XAV-60 head unit, 4 Infinity Kappa 682.9cf door speakers wired to a Boss Audio 100x4 RMS amp and a Rockford Fosgate P2 in a Rockford Fosgate ported tube enclosure powered by a 200x1 RMS amp. I am looking to add a little more bass and wasn't sure the best way to go about that. Right now I am leaning towards this but I thought I'd get some advice before pulling the trigger. 2 Kicker CompVRs in ported box Kenwood 9105D amp I am trying to keep it around $400 which I realize is pretty damn tight so this seemed to be the best option.
I really can't find any information about the tube I have and don't know where i would get another. Plus it was in a pretty bad accident where it flew through a car window and landed in the street. I'm surprised it even still worked but the tube is pretty scratched up, the grill is broken and I had to redrill the mounting screws because the sub patially stripped out of the holes in the crash so it sits a little crooked in the enclosure. Also, I have the old sub with PUNCH written in the middle unlike the newer ones. I don't really have any rating on what the sub can handle RMS wise nor the amount space it would need. Plus I was just looking for more that 1 10. I found these Polk Audio db1222 which are a little bit more but I like the Polk Audio brand over kicker.
from your post you said it sits crooked in the box. is it still sealed tight, or does it blow air past the sub?
