Hi, I'm looking for a monoblock to drive a 12" DVC subwoofer RMS 300W@2 ohm with a budget of $180. Could someone please give recommendation which monoblock I should buy, its price and where it can be purchased online?
What is the difference between a Class A/B and Class D monoblock?

I would recommend the Alpine MRP-500, it's a great little amp. Set your gains properly and carefully and you'll be fine.

The Class of an amp has to do with the internal circuitry. A Class A/B amp is less efficient and generally used to power component and coaxial speakers. A Class D amp is very efficient and are designed to produce power and that is all which is why people generally run subs off of them.

Thanks for your reply. Alpine MRP-500 will load 500W RMS to my JBL GTO1204D, that is 200W more than recommended. Is it ok?

Yeah just gives you headroom to expand. Just adjust the gains properly and you'll have no problems.
