I picked up a JL audio J2 1000/1 today. This amp is 1000/1 at 1ohm, 700/1 at2ohm, and 400/1 at 4ohms. I'm pretty much dead set on using one or more W7's. From my understanding the W713 is the only one that is DVC and can be wired for 1.5 ohms. I'm thinking this is the best way to get maximum power out of of the amp and step up a little bigger on the size of the sub. I originally wanted to get a 12 W7, but like the 10 and 8 it is a SVC and is 3ohm. I would probably only be pushing 600 watts to the 12. Another option I came up with would be to get two W7 10's and pick up another identical amp. Two tens would be louder, but I kind of need the extra space. This is my first real system so I'm open to any ideas!!!!! What do u think???
I even thought of a better idea. Get 4 w3v3 with dual 2ohm voice coils. Pick up a identical j21000/1 amp. Wire in parallel so both amps see a 1ohm load. Thats 2000 watts. Two 10 W7's would only see about 1200watts or so because they are a a 3 ohm load with a SVC. I guess it's not the ideal amp, but I got a killer deal on it. I think I would definently be happy with 4 w3v3's
don't be so dead set on a certain sub it'll limit you to much if you don't have the budget. the polk SR 124 DVC can be wired down to 2 ohm's, and they very comprable to the JL's, if not better IMO, since you looking at JL i assume your going for SQ, and SR is polk top teir line, i have a SR 124 DVC dual 4 ohm coil 12" and it's an awesome sub, they're running the same frequency ranges those JL's your looking at, and 2 will run you about 500$ as apposed to 650$ you'd spend on 2 JL's. wire each one down to 2 ohms, than them together in parallel, they're rated at 700 rms a peice, so 1000 watts will be good on 2 of them.
