Okay guys here's my situation. As stated, I have a 1999 Toyota Corolla. I have nice upgraded components with a new Alpine head unit.

Now the ONE thing I'm looking for to make this little car legit is a nice little thumping subwoofer.

Now, I am a noob and will be honest: I know basically nothing about subwoofers. So what I'm asking for is a little recommendation from you guys on to what I can get to complete this system and have it sounding REAL nice.

FYI, I listen to mostly rap/hip hop and I'm looking for around a 200-250 range for the amp/sub without whatever wiring **** I need. So help me find the best setup for my money...

    Thank you guys in advance!

I am going to go out on a limb here and say you probably need to list what amp you have to power the sub, unless you were wanting recommendations on that as well. It just didn't say it.

I am not the expert here, so I can't give you any suggestions really. Just from what I have seen that will probably be the first question asked.

250 for an amp and sub? anything is possible...

for good budget amps look at:
    power acoustik
    audiopipe
    powerbass

    Subs:
you could look at some Kicker CVR's. two twelves pounding a little corolla will make you plenty happy.. for the box, make your own, you'll save al ot that way... go ported since the kind of music you listen to calls for that...

What kind of component speakers do you have and what kind of amp do you have to power the components up front?

I would recommend buying products from onlinecarstereo.com they are usually 20-50% off most other places..and everythings brand new too! Another question is do you want annoyingly loud subs or subs that have good thump to them but are also very accurate. With the kickers they are definitely loud but are not very accurate and don't have the sound quality. JL on the other hand has very well built products that have amazing sound quality, so I would stay away from the Kickers and go for a w1 or w0 JL sub. Just my opinion though...

Wrong, Wrong and Really Wrong. Kicker and JL are both quality subs and in the right enclosures they will both perform the way you want them to. SQ or SPL, it doesnt matter. Build the enclosure for the type of sound that you want. Selecting a speaker based on bad info is not the way to design a system
