So i have a single P3D412 I want to put in my girlfriend's corolla and I just ordered an Eclipse XA1200 amp to power it. Will this work well together considering the sub is actually rated for much more power? Can I run the amp at 2ohms (500watts) and if so, what do i need to know about doing so before i make any mistakes?

thanks in advance for the help. i really appreciate it.

that combo should work really nice. Your Fosgate is rated at 500 rms and 1000 peak. Just wire the sub to a 2 ohm, positive to positive then to the positve on the amp, do the same for the negative. Wire it all up and enjoy

thanks for clearing that up. I seen a diagram on how to do it but i wasn't positive on what i was looking at but that makes sense now. i'm a complete newb when it comes to car audio/electrical. i do a lot of suspension work for offroad but not really anything else. i paid someone to wire my 12's in my 4runner but i figured now its time to learn to do it myself. lol :)

have you heard of the band azusa? your location made me think of it. ;)

I'd suggest an alpine amp over those, eclipse released that series on their way out, I never had them but i woudlnt trust one. their EA series, is epix, but idk about the ice series.

get the alpine MRP- m500, and a 12" alpine type R, and you'll thank me 1000x over, the type r will be cheaper than that punch series Rocker fostgate, the m500 will be a bit more but it should cost ya about the same in the end. put that baby in a good box, and you're good to go. I never liked Rocker fostgate, they just make me feel like i'm paying for a name. they're gear looks flashy and showy, i of course have read the reveiws they do well, but not worth the money if you ask me, you can do much better with cheaper.

should you have any trouble, give alpine a ring, and request tech support, they'll stay on the line with you untill you feel confident you know what you're doing. they are very good people, and great RMA and coverage support. just make sure you buy from certafied dealer, i dont know if sonic is, they tent to not be on alotta stuff from what ive seen so far they don't work with kenwood at all, so dont buy kenwood from sonic. at all, amoung others, none i can think of right now, but 6ave.com is apline certafied dealer, and they have the best prices on alpine gear. THE best i've seen around.

Well i already have the sub and i didn't pay retail price for it, that's for sure. I paid $100 for it (new in box) and that's with a custom box built for a corolla thanks to craigslist. I've placed the order for the amp already but thanks anyways for the suggestions. I'll keep that in mind when i'm ready to upgrade my subs in my offroad truck.

Depending on how my girlfriend's corolla sounds after this i might be upgrading sooner than expected. lol

sorry it's been a while. Did the install then moved so i've been really busy. The sub actually sounds great. Has a good range of lows and blows my 2x12 pioneers out of the water for sound quality.
