Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I uploaded a bunch of pics if you wanna check em at and laugh at my setup. Click here to see!
yeah, two different subs isn't a very good idea. lol I'd pick up another hifonics sub if i were you and ditch the xplode.
in addition... dude, the wiring is ghetto. lol but easy to fix. corolla's are pretty easy to hide wires with, i had one back in the day. I also had a '97 corolla back in 1998 - 2001. take the front seats out then take the sill molding off, the carpet should come right off, put your wires UNDER the carpet and bring the wires out by slitting small slots in the carpet. pretty easy to do and looks a lot better. it would probably take you about 30min to do too. and it's not that bad.. could be better with a little more money you make make it pretty good. i would match the subs though first. It's better than what i've got now. lol I'm running totally stock in both my wife's car and my car. dropped all my money into the look first. now, when i get some more cash (who knows when that will be) i put a system in my ride. For now, i'm still enjoying the car a lot so i don't mind running with a stock set up now.
I don't know what you guys have against Xplods man that one I have is really good. The Hifonics is what sucks. The sound quality is so much different. When I just play the Xplod it sounds like bass. When I just play the HIfonics, it sounds like its almost blown or somethin like it's bottoming out (which it's not because it even sounds like this on volume 3). I know two different subs is stupid I just wanted to get a HIfonics to try it out. Turns out I hate it. At least that one. So I'm gonna get another Xplod and throw that in there. Also probably gonna get that amp that I think johnny recommended. Get them infinity door speakers... Then we'll be rockin (and deaf).
You might have a defective one or something then. I did a setup with 2 of those in a buddies car in a big box tuned to like 33Hz. It banged like crazy. Definitely loud for $30 subs. We had about 350 to 400 RMS going to each of them. They got a little warm but nothing too bad.
I don't understand why everyone hates on Xplods either man... My first set up I had 2 Xplods in 2 different sizes boxes with a 1000 watt Boss Riot amp (very cheap set up) and was killin single setup kickers with boxes build to specs. I mean if you get the power to an Xplod, they'll deff. do what you want... I'd go ahead and toss that Hifonics and get that other if I were you.
i want to say the reason everyone here hates on the sony's is that most are purchased buy kids that dont know how to do installs. so they hear them in a bad set up. i know ive heard them in bad set ups and in proper set ups. in the right box any sub can sound good, but mixing subs isnt a good idea. they get a bad rep due to improper installs i think for the most part. now the hifonics on the other hand. ive never heard a bad install one one of those. a friend of mine has 12 in a wall on a powerbass 4000, and they get down, and sound good doing it. why not just make a single sub box for the sony and be done with it. oh and hide your wiring. that can be a fire hazard.
Well the Hifonics I have sucks, so I'm going to ditch that and get another xplod. Thanks for all the help guys. BTW I got the 6x9 JBLs all sealed up and they sound great. My system is kick ass now, it's super loud, super clear, and the bass is crazy. It only gets better from here (and louder
