I dont have much space to work with and will have a box with a little more than one cubic foot, I will have a single 12 on 1500 watts, any ideas on sub brand, so far A merlin P3 is the main choice.....and supposidly it will hit harder and have better quality than two memphis tens on 1000 watts

You should get a bigger box and port it. It will make a huge difference

Hey Merlin92, I had a question about your setup...are you installing behind the seat of a truck by chance? The reason I ask is because I've got a single 10" behind the seat of my Chevy crew cab. The box runs the entire width of the cab with a port at the far end, opposite the speaker. It sounds great, so if you can get a full width box you'll have extra airspace and the advantage of a port. I'm not real familiar with Merlin subs, but if you are open to some other options check out DB Drive and Quantum Audio. Both make great subs for the money and the Quantum looks good too.

i had a 15 in quantum 15 and it was loud but not musical at all. it had a sort of hollow sound to it. it wasnt very beefy at all for a sub that was 1000rms. it didnt weigh much more than my 8's and they only weigh 10lbs each.

now you might say it was in the wrong enclosure, well it was built to specs and tuned to 28HZ... maybe it was the tuning. who knows.

i did hear some of their 10's and liked them....

i do know that an elemental designs 13av.2 can be run in a 1.3cf box, sealed. it is pricey tho at 350 each. but it will take 1500 easy im sure.

do you have to run your amp at 1500 watts? what ohm load will it need to be at?

I have very little room to work with, I cant run anything behind the seats, I have bucket seats and a consol. look up the interior of a 1992 ford lightning pick up. I could make the box taller, but it would obstruct the rear window....
