got a memphis pr 10 in a memphis ported box with a lightning audio 250 watt amp for 100 bucks. took the l.a. amp and put it in my sisters car and took the kenwood 350 i had in her car and hooked it up. its only getting around 120 rms. not really that loud. next payday ill get a pr 500 and get another ten and see how it sounds.
I'd suggest you look at JL audio subs. When i heard memphis subs, it sounded sick(as in bad, not good at all)
Actually I've heard some memphis subs that sounded great! the setup that you heard probably didn't have a good box or something! you can make a cheap sub sound better than a top of the line sub! all depends on the enclosure man
yea id get jl if i could afford it:lol: actaully ive heard jl and wasent a fan. my old powerbass extremes killed the jls i heard. im pretty satified with memphis. i got a sony class d 1000 watt amp on it now. it sounds pretty good. i think im going to end up doing a budget system with 3 pioneer 12''s in my ranger not for sure yet.
NO! my subs are the best!! its all in the enclosure build. ive heard **** subs sound great in great boxes and good subs sound bad in terrible boxes. hell, i beat out a kid with 3 subs( one 12, and two 10's) in his hatch with one single L5 10 on 400 watts to his 1000. i did a 136.4 him...... 132.x why you ask... his box/s were all poo. mine was made for my sub and vehicle. so, 90% box 10% sub. or something like that.
yup. my powerbass's sounded like junk in a bigger store bought ported box. i built a little smaller ported box and they about rattled my doors off on 500 rms from a memphis amp lol
