Hi friends, I'm new in here... hope that someone can help me! OK I've had my Alpine 9851 since 2005/2006. I just burned a new CD of MP3s and I can't eject the disc. I push the button and the LCD shows OPEN, but the face does not drop and CD does not eject. I also notice that the Tilt feature does not work. So it looks like the motorized face drop down things is kaput. So I stop by car toys (original installer) to see if they know any tricks, nope they tell me the mortoized bit is toast. We tried a reset with no luck. Since I am past the 1 yr mark (no ext warr), no factory warranty. They want money to pull the unit and then I'd have to contact Alpine, blah, blah, blah.... OK, so I wander into the booth with Alpine HUs and see an Alpine 9851 - you guessed it. eject/tilt no workie. Stopped by Best buy and found another 9851, same thing. This seems to be a pretty common malfunction. Any chance this is a known problem and Alpine will cover customers for this flaw. Any other tips to get the disc out, or am I screwed?
why worry about a cd you can reburn again. sorry your unit is broken BTW. maybe a new unit is in order or get an ipod, or a cd changer for it.
my guess is that if the warranty is up, they wont give a shiz. the onl things u can do is what Pedro suggested... sorry dude.
hi guys! thank you for your replys! But you are all wrong... The problem was fixed! I've take out the unit myself and everything was fine at first sight but when I put the unit in the place, the problem was miraculously gone hehe
