So I have taken the past few days off from building the X to do a little side project I had. We have an RV that has had a **** poor stereo for awhile now. So it's was time to upgrade a little. Some of our out of town shows we drag it out to chill and BBQ at shows. This had to go I had this laying around so it went in as well as an older navi, An Ipod adapter and a Sirius tuner Then I decided we needed to have a little tunes for outside. I just go started on the wiring. I picked a roll of Shok Wire for the job. And thats all I have for pics. I had just about all the power wire finished off when I split my head open on one of the open doors and put a 2" gash in muh head. So a handful of stitches later, I don't feel like doing **** for a couple days. So when my head quits pounding, I will get back to this and the X build.

I spent a little time on this again today. Finished off the wiring and ran the RCA's The fuse block was a little disappointing. Sure it looks nice, but the performance sucks. First all all the display has a loose connection so it's displays intermittently. The overall function of it works, so I will leave it for now. The other thing I didn't care for was the blown fuse alarm. So unless you use all 4 fuses or in my case at least have all fuses in, it will beep at you. I have an idea for the speaker connections that I will have to search out for part tomorrow.
I didn't as much time as I wanted to this weekend to finish it up. We did some serious running around. But I did get a few things done on it Got the speaker wires ran. Little texflex and shrink to make it look good. I'm using the 6x9's that I use in the garage for tunes. These boxes still serve double duty for the garage too, that is why I left the spring clips
Been debating on doing a system in my RV as well.... just can't decide how much stuff I want to throw in there. We considered a used sportscoach DP but went with a new gasser instead due to picking up extra slideouts (have 3) & also more sleeping......
We opted for a smaller DP over a gasser. I'll give up the extra room over the MPG any day. Besides these things are only really meant to sleep 2 people anyway
what mpg do you get? On our last 5K mile trip a few DP people we talked to they were getting 8mpg but it didn't matter if they were going 50mph or 80 mph to get that mpg. On our trip we averaged 7.7 mpg & that's pulling my wrangler unlimited & I usually kept it at 70mph. Going in the mid/low 60's my mpg went down possibly since it wouldn't use 6th gear. Our sleeps 6 according to the number of seatbelts in the RV but we were able to sleep 4 quite a bit more then that. King in the back, with 2 sofa's (one is a knife sofa other is a twin) & a U shaped dinette. The DP's I looked at were the providence 39s, discovery & cross country & loved the way they drove. Buying new we were able to get a much better interest rate & ride/handling isn't that much worse Possibly get a DP next time around..... when the 3 kids are out of the house
I'm getting 11 on average out of ours. Speed doesn't matter much either It does cruise nice at 80 though. We in a 33 right now, perfect for the campgrounds we squeeze into. I think it spends more time off road then on. We got the old lady - husband kicked off - take over payments, kind of deal. So I can't complain.I wouldn't mind picking up a newer 4 slide someday, maybe a few feet longer. If I ever get the chance to pick up a new one I will be making some design changes to the audio video system. I scratch my head on what the manufacture thinks is a good layout.
11 is definantly impressive!!! The newer ones with all of their emmision stuff makes the gap from DP to gas a lot smaller. I would love having that tq though..... cruising at 80mpg only happends when I go down a hill.... then at 82 mph my speed limiter kick in A friend had a awesome 4 slide 43ft coach & he got under 7mpg usually & was a PITA to squeeze into camping areas. He's looking for a class C now & I know he will get tired of that really quick
43 is a little long for the places we go. I think I could get away with a 36ish for some places. Hell most places put a cap on length and when we get there I think to myself **** I can get an extra 10 feet in here
yea, even at the 38ft ours is..... we are not allowed in several places On a RV forum I visit people were talking about people who have 45ft DP's & then they tow a sub 30ft class C. The drop their dp off at the nice locations then are able to bring their class C into whatever camping area they want..... some people just have to much money
