problem i need help with please

    so i put my system in a while ago and after i got everything figured out, it worked fine. i was driving one day, after about 2 weeks or so, and i turned down the volume as i went into school and my subs just turned off. my amp light turned off and since then my system hasnt worked. when i turn on my car
    my amp light turns on for a split second then goes right off and i have no idea what to do. i dont know that much about this stuff. anyone know what is causing this?

    ok, this could be many different things, heck I just had this happen in my truck today.

    lets start off with your ground.. where do you have your amp grounded to? is it bare metal?

    the next thing to check is your remote on wire, to test this, you can take a short piece of speaker wire and touch it to the power wire terminal on the amp, and then touch it to the remote terminal on the amp. and if the amp turns on than that is the problem.

    also make sure that you don't have any speaker wires touching bc this could be kicking the amp.
    try this stuff and get back to us.

    i use a 4 gauge wire grounded to bare metal, so i dont think that is it.
    for the wire, i took some extra wire and touched one end to the power and one on the remote and the light came on.

    hmmm does your remote out have a fuse on it? if so check it.

    when you tested your remote with the jumper wire did your subs come on?

    i left the wire there when the light came on and turned the music on and the subs didnt hit. they vibrated slightly but not noticeable at all. i checked the 2 fuses on my amp and they were fine

    okay i found the problem, but idk how it happened.
    my fuse next to my battery was all messed up. the plastic around it was melted where the other plastic piece screws on, and the end of my wire looked a little burned. anyone know what would cause this?
    my wire is not close to my engine so it couldnt have been touching that

    fuse not big enough?? since your fuse was burnt out

    bad connection at the wire and fuse connection. This will cause resistance and in turn more heat. Also, what size wire are you using?

    i agree. a loose connection will heat up the wire and burn it! had it happened to a buddy of mine. i'll dig up a photo.

    this has to be it, because one end of the wire (4 gauge btw) was like almost out of its place.
    just got a new one today and so far so good :)
