I have just tried to fit my stalk addapter kit into my car with my new stereo, but the problem is that, although it does or did work till i took it back out it wouln't allow the switch line to work. it was staying on permenantly and i would like it to just go off with the key rather than having to turn it off. i can see why, it;s because the unit needs permenant power. so they have linked the yellow and red together. but what i would like to know is there a way of getting it the way i want it by simply cutting a few wires and re configureing them, or will this just kill it. all help much appreciated.

I had to read it a few times before i understood it. lol

here's what i'm getting. you tried to put the cars stock adapter with your new stereo and when you did that the stereo doesn't turn off when you turn the car off?

we'll have to know what kind of car you got. make, year and model and what kind of stereo you have. I'm just really wondering how the stock adapter fit with the aftermarket? usually your have a constant 12V and a ignition wire. My guess is that you don't have the ignition wire hooked up properly so that's why your stereo won't turn off when you turn the car off..

Just supply us with the proper info i asked above. I'm sure that this is an easy fix.
