you dont really have 16 gauge wire running to that amp do you? and your power wire running thru the door jamb.
your subs are deff wired to a very wrong impedance. take them out of their box and look on the magnet. i think it should tell you the impedance of each coil. if you wired your subs like you said and they are D2 coils your trying to run the amp at .5 ohms. buy a good wiring kit and start over before you set your car on fire.
I'm planning on buying a new wiring kit today, but i'm also taking it to car stereo one. One of the guys there said they would give it a look. Idk the size for sure but yeah, it's small.
Ok here's what I was told. Subs were wired at 1 ohm, so he switched them to four ohms. My amp is a 2 ohm amp and my subs are the dual 4 ohm subs. He said I need another amp, obviously. The thing is, shouldn't it at least hit a little bit even though that amp is only 2 ohms? It's like nothing, at all. I think there's something else wrong that no one can figure out right now. I think it's in the wires. Still, when I turned it up it would get distorted and sound ****ty. Bad RCA's or power wire? Is anyone from around dayton ohio on here? There's an spl show at car stereo one today that I'm gonna go to and see if anyone has any suggestions there too. Thanks guys.
ok the amp is 2 ohm stereo stable and 4 ohm mono stable. if your still running with super thin wire your starving the amp for power.
So by mono stable what exactly does that mean? I can still run it to my subs? Also when I change the wires, can I just change the power wire or do I need to change them all?
http://www.bcae1.com/spkrmlti.htm http://www.bcae1.com/ you need to do some reading. 4 ohm mono stable, not mono stable.
Wow, this **** sucks. Went to the db drags and bass race yesterday here in dayton and talked to a few guys from team maxxsonics. They looked at my setup and said they also think it may be the power wire too. They also took out my stereo, gave it a look, and said I need one with more rca inputs to get a better sound from the subs. They said that if the power wire doesn't work though, that it may be something internal in the amp, and if not that then they don't know what it could be and good luck. I guess I'll just wish for the power wire. On a positive note, I sat in a van that hit 152. That was nuts.
Hell yeah it is. The best part was the anticipation. He waited at least a minute (what felt like forever) and then turned it on. I've never felt anything like that before. My ears rang for quite a bit afterwards, but it was awesome.
