Ok well here is my setup, i have a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X493 headunit, a Soundstream Di175.1 mono 175 watt amp, and a 12 inch planet audio vortex sub. This setup sounded great till I was driving home one day and there was no bass at all. once i was home i checked the amp and noticed the fuse was blown. I put a new fuse in but all that happend was that the speaker puffed out and there was no sound. I checked the sub and it was ok so i took back the amp and they said it was no good. they replaced the amp and it sounded great once more. a few days later the same thing happened as before. I am at my wits end with this thing. The guy checked the wiring and it was all good. I dont know what else to do. Is the speaker too much for the amp or what? The speaker is wired for 2 ohm by the way. Any suggestions would be apprecieated. Thanks
the sub is wired at 2ohms? is the sub a DVC 4ohm sub? Who set up your car? can you provide us info on what guage wires you're using and did you fuse the amp under the hood?
The wire i used was 8 guage EFX stereo wire and yes it is fused under the hood. its a 50 amp fuse. The sub was a DVC 4ohm but the guy said he would wire it a 2ohm for max power.
sounds like everything was wired properly... I did read a few reviews about the amp.. They weren't that great sad to say... Is there anyway you can return the amp again and exchange it with another amp?
