Hifonics BXI 1210D 1200W Class D Mono Block Brutus Series Amplifier KLM 1/0 gauge Amp Installation Kit 2 NEW KICKER 08S12L7-D2 SUBWOOFERS 12" L7 SOLOBARIC SUB all in a ported box let me know what you think of this set up
its all good equipment, but i think that the 12" L7s call for about 750 rms? correct me if im wrong somebody, i would go with a larger amplifier. Perhaps try this one, i had the a1800db on two infinity 12s and it crushed. This was one of the only reliable amps from power acoustik IMO. http://cgi.ebay.com/POWER-ACOUSTIK-...iers?hash=item19b59e20e0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
you dont necessarily need to give a sub it rms power. im feeding my 15 only 245 watts. its rated for 1000 rms. as long as the power is clean the power from that amp will be fine. unless you want a ton of power.
i had always heard that it was worse to underpower than to overpower, thats the reason i said that, or typed that. So would it not make a difference spl wise then?
oh it would make a big diff spl wise. with my 1000 watt amp i was doing a 138 easy( maxed out mind you). with this amp im sure im in the 133~35 range(again full on cranked). its not louder but at my everyday listening levels its the same. which is what matters to me,and as long as i can still do the 129.9 bass race im cool with it. if it were true about under powering a sub then how do you explain when your listening at really low volumes. (not trying to be a dick.) its not under powering that kills its the distortion/clipping from a smaller amp trying its hardest to run it at full volume.sure its under powering it but its alo clipping to hell and back doing it. i have my gains set on my amp so that my amp is out of steam way before distortion is audible. by then my mids are way too loud too so i dont push it past 50 out of 62 on my volume. its true overpowering can kill a sub too be it mechanical failure or thermal. but going over by a little as 200 watts should be ok for those short transient bursts in some music.
well the amp i have picked out says it does 1ch 900w rms at 2 ohms which the two 12" l7s are gonna be 2 ohms so shouldnt it be plunty of power?
yes 450 each is a good amount of power. if the box for them is right then they should get plenty loud.
so when you hook two subs to the same ch it divides it between the two subs making it 450 and not 900?
ok yea thats what i thought so would it make a big differance if i go up to the BXI 1610D Super D-Class 1 x 550 W @ 4 Ω 1 x 1100 W @ 2 Ω 1 x 1600 W @ 1 Ω or BXI 2010D Super D-Class 1 x 650 W @ 4 ½ 1 x 1300 W @ 2 ½ 1 x 2000 W @ 1 ½
it says that you are getting D2 L7's? why dont you just get the D4 models and run them at 1ohm instead? then the 1210D or the 1610D would be good. if you cant get the D4, i would get the 1610 for the D2's. I am just anal about that kind of thing. I want my amp and subs to match right on, you on the other hand may not be that way.
whats the differance in sound between the to the 2ohm running at 2ohms and the 4ohm running at 1ohm? i just want it to sound really good (sql)and bang even harder (spl)
so then it would be better to get the 4ohm ones and the BXI 1610D Super D-Class 1 x 550 W @ 4 Ω 1 x 1100 W @ 2 Ω 1 x 1600 W @ 1 Ω
hey im chaging my amp kit to this one... is this a good kit http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KFX-AK4
