My old box is external 42" wide, 38 tall in front, 32" tall in back, 30" deep on bottom, and 27.5" deep at the top. I have an 18" in it now just to play with, but I think I'm gonna drop a 21" M-X in it. I have a 7.75" round port that works great, no port noise, but that's obviousely not gonna work with the 21. So I'm thinking of cutting it out and dropping a 12" port in, I measure 27.5" from inside back wall to the outside front of exhisting port... so I can make the 12" port 15.25" long keeping it 1 port diameter away from the rear.

This will make the box 20.03 cubes after sub/port displacement and a tuning of 25Hz... stupid low, but just where I want it. Should make Willi The Kid's "Love For Money" ring true with it's bottom note said to be 26Hz

The M-X is dual 2 so I'd run it parallel 1 ohm to my Hifonics BXI2608D. 2600 RMS. Kevin of Exodus Audio says the sub, though rated with a Pe of 1800, would like 3000 RMS, so my 2600 "would be sick"

I messed with WinISD and here's what I got, I plotted it in red along with ISD's default "best option" in yellow

    It doesn't reach it's 40mm Xmech/Xlim till below 20Hz or it's Xmax 33mm at about 22Hz

looks like 5dB gain around tuning?

cutting it close with 33m/s vent velocity at tuning

nice big hump right where I want it (lower than most would want it)

yeah, the sub was free and now its being powered by a hifonics zues 2CH at 4 ohms mono. 1000x1 rms.

around 4 cubes. for a cheap as sub it dont sound half bad, and handles the power well with out any signs of bottoming out. even tho it has a crappy xmax rating of 14.1 mm.

hell my 8's had the same rating too, and weigh as much as this 15. ed 8 = 10 LBs.

15= 11~12LBs. but it was free.

since my hatch space is all but gone..except for a lil space at the hatch. about 6 inches for sub clearance. i might just go nuts and get 2 big subs back there next tax return season.
