I found the JVC KW-AVX810 with a detachable face. But I'm wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives. Bluetooth and USB would be ideal, but not needed. Any ideas?
i own a JVC. I really wanted something better but that was all i could afford at the time. I wish i had gotten i better DVD.. I would look into brands like pioneer and alpine
well, let me ask you this.. are you just going to keep everything else stock or are you planning to put amps and subs in? If your just gonna stay stock then go with the JVC
then go with the JVC if you plan to keep everything stock. My only big problem i have with JVC was their pre out voltage which is only 2V. Since you won't have any use for it then go with JVC. Interface is pretty easy and on paper it looks good. I've had my JVC for about 2 years now, i haven't ran into any problems with the unit. it's fast and easy to use.
aside from the jvc, is there an online store which would give me a search option like detachable face? I'd like to find the cheapest possible dvd player, in case something happens to it...
i always left my face on... even though i can remove it i never bothered to because my car is tinted very dark.. So, i can't really answer you on that.
well, I guess I'm going to have to stick with the JVC. sounds like the best alternative. These companies need to start making more detachable face units.
I was surprised that last years`s model KW-AVX810 had that SD-card-reader but this year`s model 820 doesn`t. Okay, this years`s model has that BT as standard...I bought those for two car`s, so now I have both. That card reader is much faster than that awfully slow USB-reader, which on modern standards is as slow as a snail. Otherwise those devices seem to be quite good.
One thing that I did try was that 1 GB USB-stick works somewhat faster than a 8 GB stick. And that last years model, 810, it`s sd-reader also reads SDHC-cards. My 16 GB card works just fine. I wonder why this years model, 820, didn`t include that card reader....
JVC is fine, but you can look at my Eonon installation there, very nice, and worth the price. Many of the items with Bluetooth and USB are under 400 USD. good luck! don't forget to share with us your pics after installation! http://www.caraudiotalk.com/audio-forum/showthread.php?t=8018&highlight=eonon
