Okay my engine is off and nothing is running but the stereo but I have static through the speakers that amplifies as I turn the volume up. I have a 4 channel Pioneer amplifier. I am lost to why this is happening and I need some assistance. Thanks in advance.

is your power wire and your rcas maybe running on the same side?

you also may have a loose ground wire somewhere. you may want to check all your connections at the amp to make sure they are tight. OR.... check your gain, sometimes the knobs get dirt in them causing static. jiggle them a bit to see if it helps

Power and rca jacks are on opposite sides of the vehicle but the noise is more like a hiss rather than static. The connections are VERY tight but I will have to double check the power and ground wires to the amp.

Try changing out your RCA with another set. It may be the RCA wires.

hmmm, would you happen to have another amp or a friend with an amp? you may want to try to switch it out to see if you get a hiss with another amp in there.

    It may be the amp...

Alright I just disconnected the amp completely and ran a speaker off of the head unit and I still have noise. Just to clarify, I have a Pioneer head unit DEH-P500UB and at volume 0 there is no hiss and it starts at 1 and increases in volume to 62. So has anyone had this problem? Are there any more ideas out there?

hmmm.. i had an older model pioneer that did what yours is doing. only thru the rca's.

i have a friend that changed his pioneer head cause of the same thing. he said something happened to the ground inside the unit.

wow! I would have never guessed the stereo. Even with the amp off it still has a hiss? How old is the head unit?

This thing is like 8 months old. But is this a pioneer thing because I just found out this guy I know has the same hiss coming from his speakers and he has a pioneer very similar to mine.

it may be. have you tried grounding the head better?

Yes at the same location my amp is grounded. But do any of your systems make any noise at all, like are they completely silent? My dad is thinks it may be something all head units do but im not so sure.

my system makes no noise what-so-ever. It used to have a lot of alternator whine but that was because of my audiocontrol. Once i took that out, the whine was gone...

Just thought I'd say that I ran power and ground wire straight from the battery and it eliminated all noise up to volume 40 or so and then the same fuzz comes back. Fairly quiet though.
