I feel like I'm not getting the most out of my setup.

Cheap Off-brand amp maxing at 1600w 4 channel
    Xplod 1200w 12" (1)
12 cubic inch cheap box custom made of 3/4" thick wood closed
thick professional wiring to amp and sub

Is this a weak setup or should it be able to shake my trunk a little?
If so, how could I spend little money but get a little heavier in the trunk.

    Thanks guys :)

PS. Could it be possible to overpower my speaker with that amp?

what's the brand of your cheap off brand amp?

I have one sony 12" before off a cheap china amp and it could beat pretty good even though it was in a sealed enclosure.

build a porter box that's about 2 cubic feet and tune it to about 35-38Hz and then u bet you would be much happier!

I'll look up the brand and everything later. I'm at school now. What kind of wood do you use to build a box?

funny thing... I installed an l7 in a neighbors car with his 'l7' prebuilt box.

    was ok.

then he got another amp, a kx1200.1.

again was ok but not great. blew sub

    replaced with l5

    ok but not great.

    he blew sub... again

    sealed the 1.6ft ported enclosure

amp dialed back to max 400w using a DMM.

louder, cleaner, better in the car. pop the trunk and it really doesn;t sound like it is doing much at all. but in the car, wow. For kicker it is really nice and transparent and clean.

    you probably lack airspace...

I can get a 3/4" 49"x97" sheet of MDF for $26.21 at Home Depot. Is that pretty much standard?

And does anyone have a layout on the exact pieces I need to make the box that will give my xplod some extra bump?

    Thanks.

Also... is there a way that I can make the box to where I can add another 12" if I wanted to by simply cutting another hole? Just an idea...

I can find recommended space and dimensions for one 12" sub but what about two? If I added another 12" would I have to increase my box space?

BTW my amp is a crappy:

    Xtreme by Cuspid AM-4310
    supposedly 400w X 4
    1600w

I know it sucks but could this be the reason why my xplod doesn't hit as hard? I know I'm dealing with crappy stuff here but I really don't have much money to spend...

so the cuspid amp is running in 3 channel mode?

ok first off that amp is best to be used as a paper weight. no really. its that bad.

my head unit probably makes cleaner power.

    low wattage+1 12" sub = t-line!

What's t-line? lol and ya I knew it was bad but I didn't think it was that bad... so maybe that's why I'm not getting the bass I NEED. Idk I have the whole thing devoted to my sub... I only got that amp because it came with a pioneer hu which was pretty good. And it was really cheap. I can't really afford these amps that cost hundreds of dollars. I'm not trying to go deaf I just wanna shake the neighbors house a little bit lol

Also, Is there like a video that demonstrates the difference between amps and subs with different brands and same ratings? Like proving your wasting your money when you go cheap?

    Idk what to do...

ok do this. for now just build a simple sealed box for the sub. that way you dont have to worry about tuning or anything.

how many coils is it? single or dual coils?

Sorry I didn't see your post I think single but let me double check:

    It says it's a 4-ohm voice coil

IDK if that helps you I can't get any info on the voice coil
