soo after a month and a couple days i think ive blow my 12" type R, i dont see how tho, its wired uup to a alpine mrp-m500 amp which is a 500 wrms amp and the type r is rated 200-500wrms i belive. my box is made by me the dimensions are: front - 21.5 x 13.5 back - 24 x 13.5 top/bottom - 24 x 15 left side - 14.25 x 13.5 right side - 13.5 x 13.5 port 1 - 11.75 x 13.5 port 2 - 5 x 13.5 which worked out to around 2 cubes at 35 or 36 hz, and i got it from the RE audio box design thing. and its starting to stink my sub when i turn the volume up loud, and on my amp i have the gain to minimal and the db at about 3, and the lp filter is about 75, would my box or the amp be causing my sub to start to fry? would i be able to take it back to the store i bought it at and get it replaced as its been like 35 days??
im not sure what it is, but i know the alpine type r can take plenty more than its 500 rms. when i first built my ported i had it hooked up to a hifonics brutus wired to 1 ohm pushing out 1200 watts and i was playing it all day for a good month and a half. now i have the same alpine type r back in my car cuz im building my box for the 13w7 and i have it hooked up to the jl 1000/1 wired at 1 ohm and its doing fine...
my kicker L7 10 did that a lot. turn off the bass boost. you dont need it. also what is your gain set too? i know you said minimal but is that all the way down or just low?
its clipping...I've given a 12" Type R 1000 watts daily and it took it fine. Even tried to blow it by playing test tones full blast for 10 minutes...all I got was BARELY any smoke.
well i went to visions electronics where i bought it, and told the guy and he says that the moisture in the air is creating condensation orr something on the coil or w/e and when i play music its burning, i posted this on another forum and they said that the salesman i talked to was just bs'ing and just wanted me out of the store. any thoughts?
Hmm....weird I didn't know water burned and smelled. Last I checked it just evaporates and smells like water...once again a retarded installer. how is your gain, boost and crossover set in relation to your source level adjustments???
if it was glue it would have to be glue on the sub which i have no idea on. yeah water/condensation definatly doesnt burn and smell im no scientist but thats not a hard one, well azn i have a pioneer 400ub deck and i have the bass on the deck like low which is for the speakers and i have a seperate sub setting, that is set at 80hz with 0 gain on it, and i have the hp filter on the deck at 80 pretty sure, and then 0 bass boost on the deck, on the amp 40-60% on gain, 3db boost, and 75 on the lp.
