This setup any good?

what kind of music do you listen to? if you like rap and music that has a lot of boom in it then go with ported. Sealed boxes are for more inside listening.

They should be using at least 4 gauge wires, anything smaller would be just wrong to do.

 

building a box can be fun. i did it with mine and it saved me from having to pay someone 150~200 for 40~50 in materials.

that is of course if you have the tools needed.

 

DIY...you're getting ripped off for $500. U can buy punch amps pretty cheap.

 

100 bucks the shop gives you a sh!tty sealed box...I say save up and buy everything separate and work on your car slowly a piece at a time...RCBenclosures does good work for a decent price...you could buy a single decent sub and rape the two that you can get from that place...JL W1s aren't even any good....they are trash to me...I wouldn't take them if they were given to me...I'd wall socket them ASAP.

As for the rockford punch amps...they are crap

 

rockford POWER series is a different story though

you should put some kind of box around those rear speakers so the pressure from the subs doesnt tear tem up.

 

jonny i doubt that system gets loud enough in that box to do so. seriously the box is weak.

most pre fab boxes are not very good is what they are saying.

if you like it thats all that matters.

if your sole purpose is to enjoy it as a daily driver the box is fine, but if you wanted the most from your subs a custom enclosure is the way to go.

 

i wasn't doggin on it or anything i was just sayin they basically gave you the worst possible thing other than if you want overly tight bass.

 

Most Company supplied boxes are built with cheapy 1/4 MDF, it flexes it raddles and it can cracks with any good bass hits. You can get full inch MDF from certain places, but you can usually score up to 3/4 at home depot/lowes

in fact the factory box that i have, the corners were sealed with drywall mud.... (ya i know) so after a couple good runs it all Cracked out and rattled around inside. i resealed with silicone lol.
