I know caps are a waste of money I read the thread, I just need help on how to charge a cap without a resistor. I've read the about the 12V lightbulb trick. What I want to know if what type of cables do I use to charge it, the 4 guage or the 16G? Does it matter?

Not everybody hates Caps. I have one on my truck, one on my wife's car and one on my son's car. They do serve a purpose, as long as your expectations are realistic.

We charge Caps through a resistor to prevent a really large spark. I wonder of the light bulb would have enough resistance to slow down the charge rate. Fact is, I don't know. The resistor is a current limiting device, so ia a light bulb, it should work. I wonder??????

Wire size, for charging does not matter.

a light bulb is a resistor...using a light bulb once the cap is charged the light will dim down.

you could always use the cap as a high voltage tazer if you decide you don't want it later on down the road :D
