http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-ohm.htm according to this site my amp is making 695 watts at 2 ohms. thats not right. while i was checking the sub i mesured the amps voltage. and at 50hz i got 40 volts at 2 ohms. what is it really closer to?
695watts at 2ohms = 37.28 volts. If you got 40v then your were getting about 800watts at 2ohms. Is my calculation right? watts x number of ohms then get the square root = volts?
i dont think that can be right. its rated to do 450 at 12.5v. i was getting a hair under 14. that just sounds like too much.with out a clamp meter i wont know for sure what its putting out.
what did you measure the voltage with? with a DMM? if not, you could try to put it up to a DMM to see what voltage your getting with a 50hz test tone. http://www.icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php?t=27819&highlight=setting+gain
This is just a rough calculation...without knowing the current going through the sub we do not know the impedance at that particular frequency.
so how close can it be? 695 @ 2ohms is a lot seeing that its rated to do 450 at 12.5v. and while it was running the amp was getting 13.73 ish volts. then i checked the sub out again and got the 40v number.
