ya i believe the deck has a short inside lol. I've redone the wiring like 3 times, the deck is wired directly to my front battery, both yellow and red, ground is in the dash to shiny metal, i have the deck casing grounded now too, probably where the whining is coming from now. The amp is getting direct power from the battery in the back. Only thing left is the rca which i changed when i first started getting noises and the remote wire. These have to be good because i changed amps a few days ago and it's working fine, just have the alternator wine. Was supposed to pick up my new deck today but short of cash so i will get it saturday instead then i can see what's up. I'm almost ready to give up lol, go back to a cheap 200 watt system.
sh!t electro. your hifonics is screwed up now? did you get your new head unit in yet? maybe its your old head unit that is making the fuse blow in your hifonics...
I'm pretty sure the hu is messed up. I'm picking up my new one saturday then i'll be like starting fresh again! I hooked up another amp and it's working without blowing an 80 amp fuse i have there now. These fuses are inbetween my back battery and amp not inside the hifonics so i'm pretty sure the hifonics is shorting out. It shouldn't need more than 100 amps to turn on? Didn't before. What caused it i don't know. Seems to be voltage spikes coming from somewhere, rca from the deck or from the car somehow. I got a loan to get my car fixed, i'm tempted to buy another amp lol. Click click!
I hope it is the head unit. you'll surely know by saturday. If it was the amp then the amp would be blowing fuses which is not the case. Let the Hifonics amp take a break until you get your new head unit in just to be safe.
The hifonics was shorting out, that's the only way it could pop that 100 amp fuse. I wasn't cranking the system at all, it was very low volume when it popped the first time. But i didn't try unhooking the rcas and subwoofer, just figured it was toasted. Replaced the amp and it's not blowing a fuse now but i have an alternator whine. Weird, only i would have problems like this. When i get my new deck i will run a new remote wire and rcas to the back and see if i can get the alternator whine to go away, then i can go from there.
No warranty, i bought it used from ebay. I will get this one fixed though and maybe buy another the same in the future and another stroker lol.
Ya i just got it, fastest install ever lol. The power harness was the same plug, ip bus and it has a subwoofer rca output, front and rear outputs rca and another built in plug for an ipod. It has less adjustments for the eq which kind of sucks but can still control it, just not fine tune. It sounds amazing though so i'm happy. The alternator noise went away too and all i did was change decks, no wiring or rcas, it's all the same. Oh my remote works too haha.
Yes, nice to start fresh again, the thump when i turn on my engine is gone now too. Now to get my hifonics fixed... On a sidenote, can i spend any more money on this stupid car lol. Off the top of my head, alternator, starter, battery, idler tensioner and belt, rack and pinion, wheel bearing, water pump, transmission lines, transmission filter kit, fuel injector, tie rod ends, two engine mounts, there's more...
