Yeah I need to go buy another chip for my camera so I don't run out of memory.

I need to find someone that knows what they're doing to listen to my system. I don't know anybody else here that installs themselves... just a bunch of high school kids with JL 12W1's sealed thinking they're badass.

like i said anyone from team db unit can help.they may install their own systems, but they know what they are doing.

I did some testing today. I got out my DMM/clamp and played some 50Hz tones.

This is my gain right now (red dot indicates)...

I did volume 30/40 and sub at 0 on the headunit playing a 50Hz tone. I got 28.6 volts (AC) at the speaker terminals and 19 amps (AC) on the speaker wire, so 543.4 watts. I did volume 32/40 and sub at 0 on the headunit playing a 50Hz tone and got 33.2 volts and 21 amps, so 697.2 watts. I measured the resistance on my sub wires... 1.0 ohm. What's the deal? Why am I only getting 500-700 watts?

well the higher the vol the more the power went up.try it at a slightly highr vol.?

I think we figured it out... my headunit puts out 2V at the preouts when the sub level is at +6, not 0... I need to put it on +6 then redo the gain.

Seems like you have a reactive load of about 1.5 ohms at 50Hz in that enclosure. Until you can verify that the signal is not clipped than you could potentially have more power to spare.

BUT....is it loud at that setting though???

    seems right

    - (28.6 volts) / (19 amps) = 1.5 ohms

    (19 amps)^2 times 1.5 ohms = 541.5 watts

    - (33.2 volts) / (21 amps) = 1.58 ohms

    (21 amps)^2 times 1.58 ohms = 696.78 watts

turning the sub out up to +6 could potentially clip the signal going to the amp

maybe he needs a line driver.with say 8-13 volts.

oh snap i wonder what would happen if i put my eq back into mine.

ya +6 on the sub is bad news, you don't want to do that. You should be able to set it so it will be more than loud enough at around -2 then you have some room to play. +5 and +6 will definitley give a clipped signal and probably damage your subs. do you have control of an eq in the deck?

do those affect the quality of the signal at all? i might be interested in one.

I dont know about the phoenix gold one... but my brother has an audiocontrol matrix which is line driver and the sound went from good to amazing because of the extra voltage.
