remember to make the box as smooth as posible to prevent turbulence and glass the inside instead of making internal braces ill see if i can find some pics of explorer burp boxes :D

Hmm.. my car is 113 inches, so resonant frequencies at 30Hz and 60Hz.

An Fi Q15 in 2.8 cubes @ 50hz should peak at around 59.5Hz according to winisd. Would that be my best SPL box?

the best way to test the resonant freq. of a car/van is with a TL since it tells you at what freq. it was louder... my van peaks at freq.s 51-53

    I'm shooting for a 145db...hopefully.

That is kinda optimistic. If I get this job at the car audio shop I can test with there meter to get louder....but if not than it'll be wingin' it

Now we adjust the box size and port tuning so that we have a peak at the resonant frequency. The larger the box the higher the peak. (don't get carried away on size, NO 25 cu ft boxes).

Cervin Vegas recommendation sounds reasonable, but put the info in Bass Box or WinISD, where is the Peak?

ok, i don't want this box for spl, it's for sq but is it still good to tune it close to the resonant frequency? If i put 2.5 cubic feet box the port velocity starts going crazy, so i was wanting to do this box 3.8 cubic feet is the smallest i can get that seems to respond the best. Should i tune to 35hz closer to my resonant frequency? This box is 3.8 cubic feet tuned to 40hz, looks like the peak is at 46hz

its cool...same size port area...port velocity gets higher as the box gets bigger

Not really my competition enclosure but a daily 6 cu ft tuned to 40Hz with 112.5 sq inches of port area.

    Not finished yet of course

After I'm done with a build I sweep up all the mdf dust on the floor into a pile...Then I use an older wire mesh speaker grill to filter out the chunks.

Then I store it in a tennis ball container

oh ok i couldnt tell if it was just dust in there or mdf paste

Well use the MDF and just mix in some glue until the consistency is right....then fill in all the gaps and screw holes

For SQ you want the smoothest response. Get close to resonence, but don't make it a priority.

Hey AZN, if I ever need a box built, I'll be coming to you. Super good work, keep it up
