Ok, I decided to get the soundstream 880.2. they say bridged i can get 880 watts RMS at 4ohms. I was thinking of just going straight soundstream. I don't know if thats a wise idea but thats what you all are for. So do you think if I go with only 1 12" soundstream DVC at 900 watts RMS would that be ok or would i be underpowering the sub? Also, are soundstream subs good? Here are the specs: * 1,800 watts peak output * 900 watts RMS Rated * Rated with real world RMS Ratings (No bootleg ratings like cheaper brands!) * Cast Aluminum Basket * Dual 4-Layer, 1-ohm Voice Coils * Cloth Laminated Paper Cone with MD6 coating * Stone Gray Finish with Diamond Cut Edge * Hi Arc, High Excursion Surround * Chrome Plated Back-plate * Low Carbon Top and Pole Piece * Triple Stacked Magnet Structure * Vented and Extended Pole Piece * Black Progressive Roll CONEX Spider * Woven Tinsel Leads * Gold-Plated Binding Posts * BAEISV Hybrid Voice Coil Former * C- Lock Rubber Gasket * Rubber Magnet Cover * Wood Packing Crate with Chrome Appointments * 3" Inch voice coils * 160 Oz, Humongous double stacked magnet structure * Frequency Response: 25 HZ - 1.7K HZ * Fs (Hz) 36.5 * Qes 0.414 * Qms 3.584 * Qts 0.371 * Vas (Ft³) 1.03/29.27 Liters * Xmax (INCHES) 0.63 * SPL (dB) 89 * Hole Size: 11.25 Inches * Mounting Depth: 6.1" inches * Recommended enclosure 2.2 cubic feet (ported) * AERO PORT DIMENSIONS (INCHES) 4 x 7.5
my best friend has a soundstream 15 the 1000 rms one i aint sure the series sounds good to me for a 15, but four 1/3 the money i know subs that sre just as good. all personal prefrence i would say on this one. sounds like a good matchup though. DO IT!
These are good subs. dual 4 layer means the voice coil consists of four layers of windings and you have two 1 ohm coils for either a 1/2 or 2 ohm final load...so it wouldn't be too friendly with your SS amp.
Ok, thanks! maybe I'll just buy the 1 15" L5. that should be ok for the amp. Azn, once I get my sub can you help me make a good enclosure for it? Not actual making of course, just the dimensions etc... I'll probably get the 15" L5 for $182 shipped.
sure is!!! Having all the stuff delivered by the end of this month to the house in Cali. i already paid for it all. I went with the L5 15" and soundstream 880.2 and the Soundstream 480.4 . Once I have the stuff shipped over to the Philippines (which will probably be the end of march) I'm taking out my 3rd row in the back to make way for the enclosure. How big do you think the enclosure should be to get some decent bass? It would be cool if i could start on the enclosure before the stuff gets here. almost forgot, what do you suggest for wires???
0 gauge wiring with a distroblock to 4 gauge to the amps. The box doesn't have to be overly larger...I was thinking around 5 cubes ported. Probably sub up port back unless you want different. What are your max dimensions??
I'll take a measurement tonight when I get home. I have a lot of space in the back but I do have to make room for the amps as well. They aren't small amps. the 880.2 is: Dimensions: 26.8"L x 12.4"W x 3"H and the 480.4 is: Dimensions: 17.1"L x 12.4"W x 3"H Sub: 1 kicker 15" L5 So, you are thinking sub firing up? you actually know more than i do regarding these things. If the sub is firing up will that sound better than the sub firing towards the back? Do you have any recommendations on the brand of wires i should use ?
Any quality wire will work, Kicker, Stinger, Tsunami, Knukonceptz, JL, Memphis, DB Link, Q Power and probably many more. in SUVs generally sub up port back yeilds good results. I've had good results with both though.
I like the idea of this kind of set up. The enclosure all the way towards the back and with the false flooring with the amps in it. Kind of like how Pedro has his set up. I don't want the money in my box though. lol... wouldn't mind looking into putting mirrors in the box, looks kinda cool. any comments???
Hey you know what...that setup is from my town actually. A place that closed down called "Stuntin' 101" The setup was alright. The guy had lambo doors and would drive around with his doors up like a fag haha. It's weird how you found it since its from my town. I've never built an aperiodic enclosure though but I have an idea of how to build and tune one. Are you wanting to install one??
your kidding me... I just was browsing on cardomain and i saw that. I like the look of the set up. It's clean but i think the money inside the box is a bit over kill. Basically, that's what i'm shooting for but i'm not sure about the mirrors and etc. Just like the placement of the box and the false flooring.
i know it's not very professionally made at all,but the guy that owned the car put some hard work in it and it was diffrent. i like diffrent.it was also a cleaner sounding car than most of the others at this show......you know the ear bleeders.lol
