looking to buy and amp for my car and i have some questions about this: Profile AP1040 4-channel car amplifier 80 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com its a Profile Ap1040 80x4. But being that its only 150 dollars, it made me think; is it any good?? It has good reviews, but i want to know what you guys think. Why is it so much cheaper then say, an alpine amp?? So has anyone had any expierence, or know anything about this amp or any profile amps? Should i just save up some more money and buy a different amp? If so, what 4 channel amp would you suggest for a pair of polk db6500 6.5" components(10-100 watts rms) and a pair of Alpine spr-69c 6x9's (2-100 watts rms)?? Thanks a lot.
dan that's a little over kill for some mid's and highs. i used to have a profile amp some time ago.an A200 i think.i bought it like 15 years ago. i've had it wired a lot of diffrent ways. 2 ch,3ch.bridged. it did it's job every time with zero probs.it went from my truck(running my door speakers and dash-then the doors and a center ch) to my moms car(running all 4 speakers,2 ohm stereo) as a matter of fact i sold it to my friend and he has it running his sub. he like it too. so i would'nt worry.it's a good mid-level amp.
you could save some more money and buy this one Profile HA1040 4-channel car amplifier 80 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com it basicly the same.only in black.
Thanks a lot for the replies guys. But i think ive decided to just save up more money and buy something that i feel extremely confident in buying. ive read that profile amps break a lot, and my friend has one and hes had problems with it twice. what about the Alpine MRP -f450? at onlinecarstereo.com its only $200, $100 cheaper then crutchfield

I've had the profile Baja HA1000 and NEVER had any problems with it. I can guarantee you that your friend had problems because of user error. Why are they cheaper than say alpine amps?? different quality components and boards and a lot of other factors...from my experience though...they work The Cali amp will work fine...but there are also a lot of other good brands out there...Profile is more of a beginner cheap brand...better than Audiobahn, Pyle, and other cheap stuff Kenwood makes some good quality affordable amps
i decided that im gonna get the Alpine MRP-F450 amp. only 200 on onlinecarstereo.com 70 watts rmsx4 at 4 ohms. plenty powerfull for me and i like what i read about it. ... just need to wait till i get paid in a week
