yeah i did check the amp mute with it off and on. It still maybe a user setting in there somewhere.. I will find out soon enough when I get my amps powered up.

Posting pics of todays progress in 2 minutes.

this is where i starte today.. doing the rear speakers

got the cover off and pulled the old speaker out.

got my new neat little baffles in there and wired with some new speaker wire that will be going to the Blaupunkt.

added plenty of polyfill ... muaha.

stuffed that sucker back in there

patched it up.. rear speakers went in without much trouble.

now its time for the front speakers.. in a very odd and difficult to reach location.. the back of the dash..

just to show you what kind of difference the front stage is going to be compared to the stock.. here is a comparison side by side of just the woofer.. i was like.. damn.

pulled that speaker out to reveal a very contricted area with a whole 3 posts to mount to.. yay...

lucky for me i saw this coming and got this neat little adapter that converts this 3 hole into a standard 4 hole design..

now to suit up this bad boy..

overall i got quite a bit done. I also mounted my crossovers and wired up the tweeters.. oh and ran my 4ga power wire. so all thats really left is mounting the tweeters, but waiting on some music so i can stage it right and putting in my distributions blocks and fuses. I still have to pick a grounding spot.. and finalize where these amps are going to go as well as the sub. Then its all just hooking it all up.

I already have some ideas for cleaning up the wires.. I have already ordered a custom dash cover and I am going to cut a hole for the SS speaker grills when i put them up there.. that will cover all the ugly spots as well as the wire thats exposed and give it a nice clean stock look. The same concept is going to be used by the gear shift to hide the RCAs and such.. going to cut some carpet and place it over the gearshift so that its covering all the wires. I really need one more solid day of installing to get this done. I still have plenty of deadening to do but thats going to have to be another day.. I need sound to deaden before i start that.

Looks nice. I love when you have after market speakers but you have the stock speaker covers on. Those baffles look really nice. Where did you get those?

crutchfield.. i would have used the stock up front .. but the new driver is a considerably good amount deeper than the stock.. and the stock basically rested on the bottom of what I had to work with. So no choice there. Still the front aftermarket grills looks very stockish.

nice work dave...I like older model vehicles where everything is screwed together and easy to take apart and work on

Looks like you are doing a fine quality job!

But I do have a question...Are you going to leave the dash speakers looking like that?

you know what I thought that exact same thing when i was looking at that pic. LOL also how much poly fill did you buy and how much did you use? What are those things you put on the wires to connect your speakers? I forgot what they are called.

did you get the poly fill from crutchfeild too?

I am going to upgrade my door speakers next and would like to use the baffles and polyfill like you are.

Looks great, after you get everything laid out and working then you can tidy up.

how about mounting the amps on the back wall of the truck. then covering them somehow.

or......get rid of the jump seats and make a fake bench seat with the sub under the bench(bigger box hint ..hint)and the amps on the back wall.or all of it under the bench.

    just a thought.

sorry i have not been able to respond.. been in the hospitol with a nasty intestinal virus. Going to be out of work till Saturday while i recover.

Anyways, as far as the dash speakers go. I am buying a custom made dash cover carpet thing. Then I am going to make holes to it fits around the dash grills perfect. It will look perfect. Same goes for the wires by the gearshift.. using carpet over it and cutting a spot for the gear **** itself.

Reason I am kinda hurting for space on the sub and amps i because i need to be able to use the passenger jump seat so I can seat 3 passengers. The driver side jumpseat I dont have to use though. I may have enough room to put one amp under my seat becaus there is a good amount of space there. The other maybe I can mount on the actuall driver side jumpseat. Like scrwe it to the bottom of it while its folded up into the wall.

As far as the polyfill goes I got a 1pound box from crutchfield and I hardly had to use any of it. But thats the smallest amount they sell. You can prolly get a smaller amount if you are using it just for the small speakers at like a DIY fabric store cause its the same crap they use to stuff pillows with.

I still need to deaden it and going to use egg crate foam on top of the deadening to help it out.

The truck looks like it is just ready to be set up.

Baffles are the little holders you're putting the speakers into right?

yeah DreamZ.. for the screws in front I could get a snubnose screwdriver in there.. but.. for the ones in the back near the window i had to get an actual screwdriver bit and use a pair of pliers to turn it while holding it down with my finger.
