Yeah I'm going to deaden the back side wall... not the front wall. The only reason I'm not doing the front is because I want to have some clean metal for amp grounds in the future. Well I went to walmart, super walmart, advance auto parts, and auto zone. I ended up getting a duralast gold like you... didn't even realize it was the same one too lol.

I had advance test my old battery. It was an exide. Their meter said it was "good" and the guy checked the date and told me the battery was over 5 years old. He couldn't believe it had even lasted this long. He recommended replacing it even though the meter said good.

The clamps that hook onto the terminals are pretty nasty, what should I clean them with?

Also, the clamp that holds the battery in place... yeah I had to bend the sh!t out of it because only one side would unbolt, the otherside was rusted to the point that you couldn't even distinguish the nut from the bolt. So I think I'll have to get on down to a junkyard and get one from an old police vic.

Baking soda and water to clean the terminals

But I would go ahead and get some heavy duty marine terminals

New clamps that hook onto the terminals? Would I have to sauder or solder or whatever?

I will be post #1000 haha

I was thinking the same thing

Eazy...go to Walmart and get a couple heavy duty marine terminals, they are made of lead and have a 3/8's inch post on them and you can put a bunch of ring terminals on them...then cut the factory wires and use a big crimper or some vise grips to put some ring terminals on the ends of all the wires to the battery, put em on the post and instead of using the wing nut that comes in the package I always get a lock washer and a regular nut or a locking nut...this will ensure a much better fit and connection

    Get the picture??

Well I deadened the cabin side of the rear deck. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow. All I've got left is the back and sides of the trunk, lid, and anything leftover for the doors.

    Ahhhhhh...

Of course, my local stereo shop just had a massive sale and I didn't know about it. They were getting rid of last year's models... A kid I work with got a 15" kicker L5 in a sealed box brand new for $80.

Yeah but who says you can't make a new box... not that he will though lol.

Alright I took some pictures of the rear deck and battery.

The battery is pretty ghetto rigged... When I took the old battery out I found out one of the two bolts holding the battery clamp down was rusted to the point where you couldn't tell the bolt from the nut, so I had to hacksaw the bolt off, and the clamp was too rusted and bent to reuse.

    Oh what a beautiful battery...haha

I would make something sturdier than some bugees...don't try to make any fast turns or abrupt stops....the battery may slide.

My friend tried the bungee method till his battery slid and smashed his headlights...from the inside

Also good job on the rear deck...keep up the good work.

I doubt your friend will build a new box..prolly buy a prefabbed crappy one

Whenever you get to listen to his setup with that sealed 15L5 tell us how it compares to your CVR
