Overall best??? It really depends on the type of enclosure and tuning and such...but really first we need to establish how much you wanna spend.

There are a lot of variables...different woofers work well in different type and sized enclosures...and Viking's favorite variable...SENSITIVITY!!!!

ya i got it figured out im gonna go with a t112d4 in a 2.25 cube ported box hooked up to a t3002 into a 2 ohm bridge and run about 800 rms to it like it says on the birth sheet

where is your actual birthsheet though. I see what you are saying though they are basically cheater amps.

ugh, i should have kept that mtx8001 i had, it came with a birth certificate of 760 watts rms, even though it needed repair.

it is a cheater amp...bridges down to two ohms

Can you define Cheater Amp for me lol

basically an amp that puts out some good power at 4 ohms but puts out a hell of a lot more at 2 and 1 ohm loads.

I'm not sure but some competitions put you in classes depending on the amps output at 4 ohms....so say you can be in a low wattage class of with a max rms of 300 watts at 4 ohms....but at 1 ohms the amp can put out 900 watts....not really sure if this is true but this is what I think it means

I'm not really into competitions so I don't really know lol

Ya, thats the basics of it Azn....Prime example, the good ol Orion 225 HCCA

Rated at 25 watts per channel at 4 ohms at 12 volts. Will do a rated 400 watts mon at 1/2 an ohm. at 12 volts.....

Not supposed to do it, but run that baby at 1/4 ohm, at 15 volts and LOOK OUT!!!!! YEEEEEE HAWWWWWW!!!!!! Change out a diode in the power supply, and HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course you do that stuff, and it becomes incredibly unstable. It is like a top fuel Drag car engine, will pretty much need rebuilt after each run at full volume/throttle!!! Boy they make some relly cool rattle toys whenthe outputs explode!!!!

Viking is the reason the old orions were able to handle that low of an impedance was because the power supplies were unregulated or what??

Not ALL the Orion amps were capable of the low impedance loads.

The reason they could do this, just like alot of other amps is due to thefact that the power supply is at a lower voltage.

Example, take an 225 hcca and a 275 sx orion, side by side. Bothe boards, other than color, look virtually identical. the difference in them is the facct that the power supply in the HCCA puts out less voltage than the SX series. This enables the ouputs to handle lower impedances, therefore kicking out more power the lower the load is, without launching itselff into next week. The SX series has higher voltage on its power supply rails, there fore letting it do 75 watts per channel as opposed to the 24 watts per channel of the 225 hcca, both at 4 ohms.

The unlimited power supplies are essentially a power supply that lets the amp kick out more power/voltage in its power supply, thehigher the input voltage is. i have run old Orion amps as high as 19 volts i believe it was, before they shut down due to over voltage.

k have jus one thing. you guys think i could keep my t10001 and wire 1 t112d4 up to 2 ohms and run 750 rms or so to it becuase i dont have the big 3 so im sure it wont do its accual wattage of around 900 rms and do its rated or so or should i jus go with the t112d2 wire to 4 ohm and run 500 and just watch my gains for both

    or should i just sell get a p6001 or t3002. i want to keep my t10001 but i want a t112d4 i here a t1 will handle a 2 ohm load on that amp
