Ok so I am going to use the high inputs on my amp here to hook it up.. going to splice into the rear speakers. Anyways, the remote wire.. the one that tells the amp to turn on.. am I going to have to remove the stock headunit and splice it into the +12V ignition wire... or is there any easier way to get that amp to turn on.. I cant splice that into the rear speaker + wire can I .. lol.. just trying to make things as easy as possible as I know this car is going to be traded in in a few months.

    You have 3 options.

    1. Run the turn on lead wire from the head unit to the amp. (the right way)

    2. Run a wire from the amp to an ignition wire.

    3. Run a wire from the amp to a constant 12V, but then you need to wire in a toggle switch to turn it on/off.

I hope this is what you were asking.

i dint know if its (very safe) but i one time hooked up a remote wire to a stock deck by simply hooking it up to the radio fuse in the fuse box under the steering collum. its easier to get to than the back of a stock deck. actually i did 2 cars, one worked fine , but the other the amp stood on after the car was off. i just installed a toggle swich. hope this helps.

Damn Ranger beat me to it...was gonna say the trunkloc

Or you could get a trunk monkey and run a constant wire to the remote input with a switch inbetween...just yell at him to turn it on or off

I'd go with this. It's safe. If it stays on with the ignition in off position, then there is another radio (rdo) fuse that's switched with the key.

And some of us still choose to live in the past. If for one reason or another one decides to stay with the factory radio, we would still prefer that equipment attached to that radio turns on and off with the radio.

    It just makes sense

Finals is over for this semester, I can be annoying again
