And yes, I know my screws weren't exactly 4 inches apart...one side I could only do three cuz it started to crack (the pic from earlier)...plus I'm going to cover it with carpet anyhow.

guys i just finished doing a big install in my buddies 2000 silverado 1500.

we replaced everything.his HU gave out so he said to hell with the wife i'm hooking my truck up.

he's had some car audio lying around for some time, but his wife told him noway not the new truck..blah blah....

he found a sony cdx-630 cd player for 10 bucks at the flea market a year ago and it works fine.we put in some 6.5 polks in the doors and some4x6 polks in the rear.3 door.the drivers side is a nut buster.

he made a box for one of my old mtx blue thunder 12s and fit it under the rear drivers seat.its hooked up to an old profile 100 watt amp thats been living under my bed for like 5 years.sounds good.

oh viking did that trick for mounting an amp to the back wall of his truck.looks good.and its out of the way.

so all in all it sounds great for only having deck power.the amp doesnt put out a ton of power but just enough for him.

his wife thought it would be like mine."crazy loud".as she said.but she liked it just fine.also made a few bucks selling some of my old equipment.

Yeah Eazy...I meant predrilling as in drilling as deep as the screw...not just the first .75 inches.

But mighty fine progress though...keep it up and MORE PICS!!

so I was thinking about hooking an extra sub i have here in my room up to my house amp just for fun but I am thinking without some sort of crossover or low pass filter ill run the risk of messing it up as its getting fed the full spectrum of frequencies.

    Well...on the12volt.com there is a calculator...for a lowpass filtor you're gonna need to buy a coil

Yeah in the beginning I was only drilling like 1.5 inches deep, because the bit was too short that I was using...so I switched to a longer one.

I caulked the interior seams of the pieces I finished last night with silicone.

Well Fedex sucks so my amp doesn't come until tomorrow. I probably won't put the front piece on until I've cut the hole for the woofer, and then I'll add the top piece. In the meantime I could attach the port peice to the bottom...which should be tricky enough.

The way I attatched my slot vent was...screw and glue the vent sides together so you have the L wall...then I turned my box over and drew an outline of the vent on the outside of the vent...marked my screw points and centered them...predrill the ends....screw...predrill the rest...then glue and screw.

I set mine up on some horses and screwed from the bottom for the first two screws then flipped it over...sounds like a lotta work but it was perfect.

So is it hard to carpet the box? What's the best way to do it?

Also, what's the best order to put the box together....

fter I jigsaw the hole for the sub on the front piece, should I attach the front piece (and port), then attach the sub, then attach the top?

Or attach front and port, attach top, then attach sub?

Am I going to be able to caulk all the seams?

Am I going to be able to caulk around the wire on the inside? Or do I have to do it on the outside?

Well from the looks of your box build it from the bottom up...My box was different as the whole box was assembled then the baffle was put on last

Screw in the sub after your done building and after all the silicon dries(24 hours to be sure)

Caulk all the seams you can

Yes after you drill the hole for the speaker wire and pass it through caulk the hole up with the silicon whatever you have
