Ok everybody I need some ideas/suggestions. I have $100 to spend for a 10" subwoofer. I don't particularly care about SQ, I just want the loudest, deepest, lowest sounding sub for the money. Obviously I have enver heard all the subwoofers ever produced in a controlled environment, so I was hoping someone else could help me. What brands can really POUND the bass better than the rest? I'm talkin the loudest sub below 60Hz. Of course, I could spend more if it was a TRULY exceptional sub that would justify the price.

And also, I'm looking for the same features in an amp. ABSOLUTE best bang for the buck!!!!!!

well first off it's not the sub, it's the box, it's all about building a box to the exact specifications that the sub requires for best sound, but if your on a tight budget like that you should start lookin in walmart for low priced subs (not tryin to diss you or anything) but they have what you need sometimes or parts express i believe they have a loaded box w/ 3 10" subs, roadthunder series RT10x3a 600watts rms/1,200watts peak, 4 ohms, frequency response is 49hz to 150hz
the demensions are 13.25"h x 32.25w x 15.5d and the retail is $149.60 and would be best for you and a lanzer vibe 1800d amp with a power peak of 1,800 watts and features up to 18db switchable bass boost at 60hz for $360
but dude there is no such thing as a good sub for cheap, you gotta be willin to spend sum dough for a good sub as well

Um...dude like Dreamz said...with what your asking and how much you wanna pay...its nowhere close.

You can't have the loudest lasting system on earth for 100 bucks...even though it is alot about the enclosure...if the subwoofer cannot take the beating for long its gonna die.

    Here's a nice sub for 120

yeah... if you get a walmart sub, don't sent the amount of wats from the amp to the sub that the box says. cause it lies and then you have a blown sub.

Um...power handling is a function of the enclosure. My sub is only rated at 200 watts rms but in my box it can handle 400-500 all day

I tried that once went to a local shop bought a cheep amp & a set of mtx sounded like crap that day & to this day they still sound like crap. crap is crap & always will be. Id start by reaserching some good amps decied what space you are willing to give up the larger the speaker the deeper the bass. I went with 12's & may sell those to go back to 15's. It's alot of space but there is a significant difference in sound. After you know what you want start looking on ebay I payed 140.00 with shipping for my alphasonik 12" 400 series new. They are the middle of the line. Remember you do need to spec your amp to your speekers if they require 400 to 800 watts you need to provide power somewhere in the middle. I would recomend picking a high quality woofer with modest power handeling under 400 watts or you are going to have a higher expense to drive them. any of the big brands not cheep brands. I was going to tell you what to look for but Its easier to tell you what to stay away from MTX, pyramid, lanzar, the mass cheep stuff you see at the cheep shops you do get what you pay for.

lol your trying to say that MTX is cheap stuff??? yeah sure

Your setup may have sounded like crap because you bought cheap crappy amp and some woofers that were in an enclosure not designed to their specs...I'm not sure if all of these were factors.

But your amp prolly was clipping badly because the gain was set at max or very high...trying to get some power out of a cheap amp (get what you pay for) Also you probably didn't have your settings correct. Even MTX's road thunder series subs can sound pretty nice in the correct enclosure.

Also...your statement about the larger the speaker the deeper the bass...WRONG.

A 10 inch subwoofer can play the same frequencies a 15 or even 18 inch speaker can play...the difference is the amplitude these frequencies are being played. So the whole thing about yeah a 15 can hit lower and deeper than a 10 is incorrect.

Any woofer can sound good in the correct enclosure.

i know this is an older thread but he never considerd the price of a box for his 100 sub.

and kingfish mtx makes a really nice sub.i still have a pair of BLUE THUNDERS i bought back in 1988.they where in my old S-15 for 15 years and in my new truck for about a year before i went with a single 10.

they absolutly ROCKED. still do cause i have one in my home theater set up.70 watts from a yamaha sub amp in an old bandpass box i had laying around.the other is a spare.

Hahahahaha, most of the time, people refer to eclipse at the same company that makes TC sounds. Not the other way around. Eclipse only makes good headunits. TC sounds makes the good subs but I would only recommend the 3 HP, 4 HP, and 3000s

lol....dave, he did say he didn't care about sound quality

But this thread is kinda old so it makes no sense to add to it because he's prolly long gone.

I don't see why people always come here for help and then we help but they never come back and tell us what happens or what they did
