I got a 93 Honda Accord and for some reason it started to overheat and when i stop to let it cool down and look at it, white smoke was coming from some where around the crank shaft. I also found that one of my spark plug wires where cracked and as not in all the way in. Can some one help thanks.

You say there is smoke coming from around your crankshaft? Your crank is INSIDE your engine!! Im assuming your talking around your oil pan. Could just be an oil leak, oil will smoke when dripped on a hot surface. Do you see anything on the ground after you park it, oil, coolant, ps fluid, brake fluid?? Also if you REALLY overheated it you could have cracked your block, that would certainly cause an oil leak. Do you know why it overheated??

Um, its a honda.........it is doing what they do best, sit back and watch it burn to the gound!!!! i will supply the dogs and buns, you bring the mustard and relish.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We can all advise your insurance as witnesses that it burned due to excessive rice in the fuel tank!!!

My bet is the water pump shot craps. It's run by the timing belt, which is sorta "near" the crankshaft.

is there a puddle of coolant/pee on the floor under your car? like cracked block? hahahaha did you just put oil in your car and it dripped down and sizzled on the manifold? or did youy overheat, get lucky that you didnt crack the block, and burn out the timing chain cover gasket?

exactly why are you putting jb weld on the valve cover?

I can only see that being proper if the cover needs repaired, like a tree fell on it, otherwise those take really inexpensive gaskets, and are a cinch to replace.

and for the smoke, if you are overheating, and have a badly leaking oil pan (noticeable gap), then your car is just doing exactly what it's supposed to do. It's dying. (actually the overheated oil and engine grime are making smoke, and escaping out of the crankshaft via the escape hole- not supposed to do that)

replace that (no wait), have that gasket replaced as long as the engine is still running fine.. overheating these hard working little engines is a very damaging, so you should find out why she is overheating (fan not working, coolant leaking, fragged water pump, etc..)and stop it immediately. If not, you might start looking for a new engine, or a new car.

these are delicate little engines, and I'd be suprised if yours is going to put up with what has already been done. But be diligent in finding out what's happening, and I implore you not ignore her if you want her to live. Good luck.

    preventive maintenence....it does wonders......

Tune this puppy up....replace the plugs and wires and (if it has them?? cap and rotor, but it might be distributorless)....If you got a valve cover leaking...replace it....if the oil pan gasket is leaking, check to see if all the bolts are tight....take a 1/4" drive ratchet and socket and tighten them up as tight as you can get with one hand...that should be sufficient...if they are tight and you are leaking oil...replace the gasket or have it replaced.....It is important to get these leaks fixed or at least slowed way way down...Ignition stuff up to snuff and take her down to a local car wash (by some engine gunk from an auto parts store and gunk it down when it is good and hot) and pressure wash the engine (cover the alternator with a plastic bag, try to keep the alt. fairly dry).....Make sure your coolant is 50/50 mix and your cap is good (hell just replace that...it is cheap) have the cooling system pressure checked to make sure it is not leaking....pressure on the system is essential to it not overheating....Make sure the thermostat is good and opening as it should.....Waterpump doing what it should......

Do not use JB weld and never ever use stop leak on the radiator unless it is leaking bad and you are gonna sell it in less than a week....Stop leak will give you more problems than you initially had......Pay once to fix it right or keep put nickles in it every week....As long as you do some proper mtc. to it, that thing should run like a sewing machine....if you severely overheated it or if the timing belt is going, that is a different story....
